Martinich is Roy Allison Vaughan Centennial Professor of Philosophy, and Professor of History and Government at the University of Texas at Austin; his many works include Hobbes: A Biography (Cambridge University Press, 1999), Thomas Hobbes: Perspectives on British History (Macmillan, 1997), and A Hobbes Dictionary (Blackwell, 1995).
